Hey Just Suzy, I like your text as much as the photographs. Nice. I have been to Brussels many, many times. I am still trying to find the perfect time. I saw Elliott Erwitt's show last time I was there just off Grand Place, and the time before that a nice Peter Lindbergh show. Magritte Museum is lovely, and the food is excellent. The frites are without a doubt the best anywhere. Love the lady reading!! Great stuff..... Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words, Søren☘️! I'm really sorry I missed the Erwitt exhibition, but agree the city has a lot to offer on all fronts!! The reading lady seems to be a jury's favourite🤓

Wonderful writing and beautiful images Suzy, capturing what I imagine the spirit of Brussels to be like - I felt like I was on a tour of the real city with you! I love the image of the woman reading - it really conveys the sense of peace and calm in that quiet moment so well!

Wonderful post, Suzy! Your writing and photos beautifully capture the essence of experiencing Brussels, and I appreciate how you focus on the ‘slice of life’ experiences (like waffles) rather than the ‘must-see’ attractions that so many tourists flock to. I especially loved your photo of the woman reading in one of the nooks at the Bourse. I’ve only been to Brussels once, many years ago, but your post makes me think it would be lovely to return someday.

I always appreciate your kind words, Todd, but it's especially heartwarming when you're reminded of a place you've visited yourself years ago🤍. I'm sure it'd be worth revisiting, as the city seems to be undergoing serious renovations and constant changes!

I always enjoy reading your posts, and like your photos a lot. You're able to establish whatever you want to state or intend, instantly with a single shot. Not always, of course, some photos are more 'important' than others, but often enough to convince me that you have the amount of control over the tecnical stuff and the experience to know what and how to shoot. Your photo of the woman reading (just an example) shows this ability. If I wouldn't be such a stubborn old photog, I'd attend one of your workshops on street photography anytime.

That's quite some feedback, Vincent, on both my writing and photography. I still consider myself very much a beginner, so I agree you probably wouldn't have a lot to learn from me - but it'd be great to have coffee together some time, should you find yourself in Maastricht at some point☕️!

I mean what I wrote (I always do), and I think too few real compliments are made on Substack to people who really deserve them. I see so much of the same fluff and uninspired photos, but your work stands out to me.

BTW I didn't mean to say I don't have much to learn from you, I'm just not a guy you'd want in your workshop:). And having a coffee together sounds great, I'll let you know when I'm in Maastricht!
