It'll be great tomorrow!! I started my street photography group and ran it for over 15 years. I felt a responsibility as a 'leader' the first three outings. Then in no time, the lovely photographers helped remind me we all worked together because we all had something to contribute. You will do great in bringing your personal expertise. No imposters allowed :D.
As soon as we dare to step out of the ordinary and put ourself on stage, our mind has ways to trick us into panick mode. As Susan Jeffers' says Fee the fear and do it anyway" you have somuch knowledge to share and as you say street photography is learned by experience and yours will be priceless.
Thank you so much for the encouragement, Rachel🌷!! It's funny you mention it, I was thinking about the book while writing this post😂. Fear or no fear, I'm going for it📸!
Slightly controversial, but I’ve always found Brugge a little overrated. I much prefer Ghent. It has a similar charm, but weaves the modern and the ancient in a way I really love. So I’m so glad to hear you found it beautiful too. I won’t be able to join your Maastricht photography walk, sadly, but I wish you all the best with it! Hope you’ll share a few photos from the day here :)
You will be doing great! Just tell them, what you wrote here and all will work out. Just be yourself. I have a feeling that this will be more than enough! ☺️
Beautiful light in these photos Suzy - I just love that 'Dogs life' image! As for workshops, I'm too much of an introvert to lead one myself but that said, when I used to be part of a photo group I'd organise walks and basically we all chatted and learned from each other as we went along. It's just about sharing, in an informal setting, your knowledge and experience...like Designing with Code says it's the connection that matters. Good luck with the workshop!
Thanks for the kind words, Lin🌷! I agree that connection and a relaxed atmosphere during the walk should matter most. I'll do my best to help the group ease into it!
P.S. The Dog's Life was my favourite shot of the day🐶!!
Cool photos! If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that no one really knows what they’re doing and that’s totally fine. You just show up and be yourself. I’ve been to many events, including photography-related ones, and I never went back to improve my skills. I kept going because I genuinely enjoyed the people and the vibe. I think photo walks are more about connecting with like-minded folks than about learning. Good luck with your workshop!
I really appreciate the encouragement☘️! And I definitely see what you mean. Creating a relaxed environment where people feel safe to experiment seems more important than passing on any technical knowledge (which I don't really have anyway😂)!
I understand the imposter syndrome but if you just tell about your experiences and how you see things, it will be great. Real stories stick.
That's the plan! Thanks for the encouragement, Marcel👊🏻.
I've been wanting to do this for a while, but that doesn't mean I'm not nervous😅
If you didn’t feel nervous, you wouldn’t be human, Suzy! Once you take that first step with the group, I bet the anxiety will all melt away. 👍
Thank you so much, Todd☘️! I hope you're right. I'm planning to have a bit of fun, too😁📸!
Good luck! It’ll be great!!!
Thank you so much🥺!! I hope you're right🤞🏻☘️

Thanks a lot for the shot of courage when I needed it, Juliette😁!
I'm sure you were a fantastic photography buddy to anyone involved. It'd truly be an honour to join you on a walk one day📸!!
I would really love that!!

Ooo, that's awesome, Suzy! If I were here, I would join :)
I'm sure you'll handle it; good luck!
Thanks a lot☘️!! If all goes well, there will be new dates in the summer/autumn!

I think you're right! I haven't been to Brugge, but Ghent really surprised us with great atmosphere and great food. Thanks a lot😃🤍!

You're too kind, Susanne🤗. Thanks for the encouraging words🌷!

On most photo walks, people are just waiting for beer o'clock so they can finally start socialising. Well, at least that’s the trend here in Spain! 😂
I'm taking notes😂🍻!
😂👌🏻
I'm sure it will be a success. Self-doubt is one of the best traits in artists, it's how they get so good at what they do.
I sure hope you're right, Vincent😁! Thank you for the kind words🌷
Thank you so much🥺! I really appreciate the encouragement☘️.
