I love reflections and like you said they are an excellent starting point when you’re new to street photography. On my photo walks I always pay attention to reflections in different ways. But making an interesting reflection photo is harder than it seems…. 😅 What can I say more, great article and interesting photos!!
Another great article, Suzy! Your beautiful words and photos make this fashion shop even more intriguing. The idea of having a photo book and turning a page every day is truly amazing. If I had a place in another universe, I would do the same!
Reflections are a great thing to explore, however I am always concerned that photos could become too busy due to many things going on. You did it really good.
Thanks for sharing. I'm always on the lookout for interesting reflections, but I haven't had much luck. My favorite selfie has to be the one with the reflection in the window. I'll probably post it in the notes later. Have a great day!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Pawel! Those big mirrored glass shots work best in bigger cities, but I've found some really quaint windows in a small town, too. Either way, they're a great exercise in both noticing & getting creative🙌🏻!
I love using this technique while out in town. You can get such interesting and complimentary layers in your shot by including the window displays themselves. 👍
Window reflections are great fun to work with - I love how multiple layers can draw the eye in and tell many stories. Your hat shop image does exactly this...wonderful!
I think when the pandemic happened and my street collection in general stopped, my habits changed, photographically. I started working more on other genres and so I lost the cadence, if you will. I always look for reflections and I still have the collection on my website that I add to on occasion, just not as much. I will definitely start looking for more! Thanks for brining this to my attention.
Wonderful images, Suzy! Reflections can add so many dimensions to a photograph—for me as the viewer, I love getting lost while gazing at the multi-layered scene. The hat image is my favorite, not because I love hats, but because there are so many layers to appreciate in that composition.
Thanks for the genuine feedback, Todd, and for resharing🙌🏻! I'm glad you like the one with the hats - I counted 5 layers in that one, but I might've overlooked some😂🎩
I genuinely appreciate the feedback🙌🏻! I think only the last one is surprising in a way, but then it's not really a reflection, of course, so I cheated there a bit😉
It not only adds another dimension, but I find it also obscures borders between inside and outside. I think, that is what I like about these kind of photographs. Here the hats are my favorite! ☺️
I'm glad you found it inspiring, Fran🙌🏻! Having tons of them made me think about what some of the shots mean to me, and how the windows I pass by regularly keep changing over time.

Thanks so much for the feedback, Leon🌷! There are some great windows in Maastricht for sure - we should hit the streets together some time📸!
That’s sounds like a good idea 👌We stay in touch!

Really appreciate your thoughts, Berkay! If you ever wanna explore the streets of Maastricht with me, just hit me up🙌🏻!
Yes, definitely!
I love reflections. They’re the gate to another dimensions - I like to say 😅
Lovely photos and article 👏🏼👏🏼
I love that😃, and I have to agree📸! Thanks for taking the time to read, Björn🙌🏻

One of the things I like about them is that they're indeed harder to make than it seems😎 appreciate the feedback, Davor, as always☘️!

I'm glad you agree, Graham🙌🏻! Like I said, it's nothing new, and yet you get something new every time, even if it's the same window 🪟 !
I'd love to see some of your favourite shots📸. Thanks for sharing🔄!
A lot of them in my Flickr album here... https://www.flickr.com/gp/9268084@N03/X4q4610v26
Thanks a lot for sharing these, Graham🙌🏻 they're great fun📸📸!

Thanks for the kind words, Lin, and for resharing it for others🤍🙏!
Yay! My favorite subject ... I love all of them. Great work! I stopped adding to my reflections series, but I always look for them!
Thanks a lot, Juliette🌷! Why did you stop adding to the collection? I'd say there's no such thing as too many reflection shots😉🙌🏻

These are almost surreal or like a parallel universe. I love them all!
That's the best feedback I could possibly imagine🥺, thanks a bunch, Alicia!
I love these reflections. Thank you for sharing this.
Appreciate it, Thomas☘️🙏! Thank you for taking the time to read & look through the pictures. Do you have a favourite?
I really liked '“Old meets new”. The Cafe shot is interesting too. Oh….and the hat shop. Hmmm….I think I liked them all!
Such good shots, you took the reflection shots in some directions I hadn’t really seen before. Really nice and inspiring stuff, thanks for sharing!

I like that! Erasing the boundaries without crossing the line. I'm glad you like the hats, Susanne - I miss that shop dearly!
Thank you for reading and your thoughtful comment, as always - I have to say your treatise on windows was one of my favourite reads to date🙌🏻
Great idea! I’ve got tons of reflection shots, might have a scroll and create something similar.
I'm glad you found it inspiring, Fran🙌🏻! Having tons of them made me think about what some of the shots mean to me, and how the windows I pass by regularly keep changing over time.
I'll keep an eye out for your reflections😃
Aw thanks for the follow 🖤
Always appreciate your feedback, Guillermo🙏! I have tons of them indeed, but it was a good exercise to try to reframe them in the context of change.
